Minister of Science and Technology Felix Mutati says there is need to have one transaction as a total government through integrations of digital banking systems.
Mr. Mutati said government is wasting resources due to missing links especially in electronic banking system services for citizens who are on social cash transfer and Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
He was addressing NATSAVE bank in a meeting today in Lusaka.
Mr. Mutati said the ministry will engage the bank to come up with innovations that will enable the transaction cost of accessing financial government services to be affordable and convenient through the use of technology.
NATSAVE bank Chief Executive Officer Malcom Chabala said technology is the main driver to deliver financial inclusion in the country.
He said the corporation currently operates in all the 10 provinces in the country and in some parts being the only institution providing financial services and that it wishes to extend its services by coming up with innovations that will create capacity for financial inclusion to grow extensively and accommodate the citizenry.
Mr. Chabala said the bank looks forward to work with government to provide improved financial local services that will serve the ministry and stakeholders in the technology sector at effective costs while promoting economic development.
