A Zambian Student Scoops Best Female Research Project Medal in Africa
22 year Chikondi Banda has emerged as the most outstanding female student in Universities across Africa.
Chikondi, a second year IT student at Chalimbana University participated in a competitive educational programme and came up with a research project paper titled “Food Security in Africa”.
Calm and intelligent Chikondi pursued the project research that she submitted to the Africa Students Union whose turn out has reflected academic excellence in the Zambian education system.
Higher Education Permanent Secretary Kayula Siame commended Ms. Banda for her excellent research project work which resulted in outstanding performance and earned her the award as best female student in Universities across Africa.
PS Siame reiterated the Policy of Government which encourages female students to take up programmes in science, technology, engineering and mathematics courses (STEM). She encouraged Ms. Banda to take a lead and excel by striving and competing with oneself. Mrs. Siame thanked Ms. Banda and the management of Chalimbana University for show casing academic excellence instilled in its students. She pledged continued support by the Ministry in such programmes.
And Chalimbana University Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. Geoffrey Tambulukani explained that Chikondi is an outstanding student and has certainly shown potential to pursue such challenges at a young age.
Dr. Tambulukani said the University is proud of her achievement. He explained during the execution of her project, the University encouraged her to research widely on her subject.
Chikondi Banda who looked calm but evidently well informed of her research project expressed pleasure at her achievement as best Africa Student. She explained that her research topic on Food Security in Africa was motivated by statistics showing high numbers of vulnerable people not accessing food. Chikondi indicated that her research findings will contribute to enhance food security systems for inclusiveness in Africa.
